Florida Vacation - July 2011

We had such a GREAT time in Florida this year!! Jadon LOVED showing his little sissy the beach, waves, hermit crabs, Gulf World and more! Jori was not scared AT ALL of the water and just dove in head first. I celebrated my birthday while we were there . . . and chose to have our family pictures made as a present to myself :-) I love them and here are a few as well as some that I took from our trip . . .

Michigan 2011

Michigan!!!! We LOVE getting to visit our family and all our cousins in Michigan!! This year we celebrated my moms and dads (Grandma and Grandpa's) 60th birthdays AND their 40th wedding anniversary! It was awesome to be able to celebrate with them! We were so blessed to be able to stay at the campground again which gave us some really fun times with the cousins and Grandparents.

One year ago we were eating at IHop and got one of the best phone calls ever . . . we were the parents (and Jadon the big brother) of a precious baby girl . . . I can't believe it was one year ago (and with a little over 4 hours notice) that we met and took our Jori home.

For He knew the plans He had for us . . . plans to prosper us, not to harm us . . . plans for hope and a future. God chose adoption for us before we knew. He used our hope and placed adoption into our lives to give us a future filled with laughter, love, and a family.

I truly can not believe that Jori is 1!!!

We didn't know 1 year ago that she would be ours and we are SOOO blessed to have her in our lives! Here is the story of her first birthday!

2 days before we made a visit to build @ bear. Jadon has talked for weeks how he was going to make Jori a special friend so she could have one like he had his "Rex". After looking through the choices, Jadon picked 2 and put them in front of Jori to see which she liked better . . . here is what she chose (really funny) . . .

After the video we decided to let her crawl to her choice and the winner was . . . the fuzzy puppy! She hugged it and didn't want tot let it go . . . we finally had to pry it away in order to get it stuffed!

Jadon did such a great job helping build Jori's special friend . . .

. . . he kissed the heart that was to be placed in "princess pup" and filled it with love . . .

. . . meanwhile . . . Jori was trying to bear crawl to her brother!

Once the "princess pup" was finished . . . Jadon gave it to his sister . . .

and then proceeded to make funny faces with her in the mirror . . .

The day of Jori's Birthday (March 26) we had a small party for her at the park. We painted little pots and planted wildflowers for my little wild child :-)

Then it was time to sing happy birthday to the little princess (who likes making faces . . . hmm wonder who she learned that from) . . .

SHE of course had other ideas!

She just couldn't wait to get a taste of that cake!!

When she finally got her own piece . . . she looked at it . . .

and finally decided to take a bite!

That night we were so BLESSED to get to spend her birthday with her precious birth family. They loved on her so much and this picture below is her sweet birthmother looking over her as she looked at her card. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful open relationship with them.

All in all . . . I think you and she would agree . . . it was the BEST 1st birthday!!!

We received an e-mail . . . it said:

A birthmom saw three of our families on the website that she is interested in . You are one of the three. She is due in April.

Little did we know this would lead us to precious Jori . . . I pray that we have honored her birthmother and all she wished for this precious girl during her first year . . .

While reminiscing about the events of one year ago I came across the following . . . I LOVE Mark Schultz and did not know he was also adopted . . . I had heard this song before and never put it together until now . . . get your tissues . . .

I can not with any ounce in me even have the ability to know what our birthmother was going through one year ago when looking through profiles and deciding to meet us . . . I am just so thankful . . . so so thankful . . . God bless A. and J. for giving us the two greatest gifts we could imagine . . .

We had a FUN little play date with a friend we have been waiting to meet! Meet miss Natalie . . . isn't she just yummy? Natalie is 4 months old and was a very much longed for . . . and prayed for little girl . . . she too entered her loving family through adoption! I am so glad that they live close so our girls will know each other as they grow!

We started the morning off eating breakfast at Chiloso . . . only a "few" cheerios and other snacks were left on the floor there :-)

After Chiloso . . . we went to the Library for a fun little play group!

Of course Jori was more interested in exploring on her own . . . that is what she is into these days! :-)

Judo Jadon . . .

We started Jadon in Judo a few weeks ago and he is LOVING it!! He was really scared at first but now he is just loving it. We had Fight Night tonight and here is video of 2 fights. The first one he won (in 5 seconds) and he was so excited. The other little boy was pretty upset as you will see.

The second fight he lost however but I was so proud to see how he praised the other kid and was just a good sport. Enjoy the videos!

1 week after 20 degree weather, ice, school closings etc . . . we had a BEAUTIFUL day that reached mid 70's. We took advantage of this and took the kiddos to the park! Enjoy!

Jori and I made a FUN trip to Chicago! The plan was to:

A - Visit one of my best friends (that I met on the internet 12 years ago when it was still scary) and meet her new son . . .

B - Have a fabulous girls weekend in Chicago with my mom, sister, and Jori. This was a surprise for my mom for her birthday!

I took a few family pictures of my friend and her family . . . aren't they all Gorgeous? Seriously . . . this girl and I have been through so much together on our journeys to our families . . . God answered our prayers through different ways but we both had the same result and in the case of both of our kiddos . . . they were all born in the same years (2004 and 2010).

The second part of the trip was a weekend in Chicago with my Beautiful Sister and mom. . . unfortunately my mom became very sick and was unable to come which broke our hearts! My sister decided to pull her daughter out of school and take her. Soooo Jori and I were able to have a fun weekend with Aunt Amy and cousin Naomi. We missed our mom terribly but she got lots of pictures through out the weekend which we hope lifted her spirits . . .

Well, the Christmas Tree went up on Thanksgiving up and it gave Jori the motivation to crawl . . . she took one look at that tree, and decided she MUST get to it any way possible . . . she started with rocking . . . and little by little . . . within a week . . . she had mastered the art of crawling . . . and pulling things off the Christmas tree.

OK . . . so I am VERY behind in posting pictures!!! We have had such a blessed year and Jori has filled our lives so much that I just don't seem the time to post much! I like that problem a lot!!! :-) Here is a picture from the day she turned 8 months . . .

At 8 months my princess is:

- sitting up all by herself

- wearing 3-6 month clothes

- weighs about 14.5 pounds

- sleeping from 8:30 - 7am

- loves baby mum mums

- still has no teeth

- loves to explore everything!

GREATEST DAY EVER . . . our family is complete! On this day . . . Wednesday, October 6, 2010 . . . we finalized the adoption of our sweet little girl Jori. We feel so incredibly blessed and overwhelmed at all of the love and support over the last 7 years when we originally began our journey to a family. There is so much emotion inside of me . . . it is hard to put in words . . .

Jori - 6 months!

Jori is doing soooo good!! Sassy as ever but sweet as can be. Of course I found her all kinds of pretty flowers to wear on this AWESOME website www.girlscrochetheadbands.com but you can see what she does with them . . . ;-) . . . I wont quit trying though . . . :-)

Her stats are:

Weight - 13.3 lbs

Height - 24.5 inches
Head - 16.5 inches

- She loves to suck on her toes . . . . that is a favorite past time . . .

- She LOVES to talk . . .she is quite good at vocalizing her opinion from time to time :-)

- She can roll from her front to her back . . . still working on the other way though . . .

- She LOVES sweet potatoes, squash, and prunes . . . and HATES peas and green beans . . .

- She just started sleeping through the night (9pm - 7:30am) . . . Praise God!!

- She loves the little bugs that hang on her car seat . . . she holds them whenever we are driving.

- She ABSOLUTELY adores her big brother . . . but who wouldn't?

I truly cannot believe that Jori is 4 months old! Some fast facts about our little princess!

- She is 11 lbs, 3 oz and the 22% . . . such a tiny little thing. She still fits into some newborn clothes!
- She is 22.5 inches tall and in the 16%
- Her head Circ. is 15.9 and she is in the 59%

- She is giggling, reaching for things and is just so so cute!
- She still does not like to sleep through the night as she likes her bottle at 3am however she does go right back to sleep! She is definitely our little princess!
- She loves her feet and plays with them often!
- She has found her voice and she likes the way it sounds . . .
- She likes to blow bubbles :-)
- She LOVES to look at herself in the mirror! Can't blame her there!

We were so excited for our trip to Michigan to see family!! Jadon was so excited to take Jori on her 1st airplane trip! Jori did awesome and smiled at everyone on the plane. Between the cuteness of Jori and Jadon . . . everyone on the plane was totally entertained! Jori loved to smile at EVERYONE and Jadon of course was being his little funny self and keeping everyone laughing!

We HAD to visit our cousins AND second cousins! Yes . . . there are 19 kiddos in this pic! It was such a great day!

We stayed at the campground with Grandma and Grandpa . . . we were lucky to have a great little cabin! Of course we had to play some mini golf while we were there!

There was a theme weekend while we were camping. . . Easter!!! Grandma helped us make an Easter Egg . . .

and you have to love Jadon's 2 missing teeth there on the bottom (yes he pulled them out) . . .

and had a visit with the Easter Bunny!

What would camping be with out going "froggin"?

They had so much fun together . . . and LOVED dressing like twins for the day! There is only 3 months difference in age with these to precious boys!

Little miss Jori is just full of smiles and agreed that her first trip to Michigan was one that was great fun! She even slept from 10:30pm - 7am one night while we were there! Must have been that Michigan air!

Grandma and Grandpa were so sad to see us go . . . but it was so great to see them while we were in Michigan!

Jori's Adoption Story

It is hard to believe that 2 months ago today we found out we would be the parents to this beautiful baby girl . . . here is her story . . .

Thursday, March 11, 2010 . . . I was at the gym taking a fitness class and saw a call come from Stephen. My phone was always with in arms reach as it was our “lifeline” to adoption. We knew from experience with Jadon (16 hours notice) we needed to always have our phones handy “just in case”. Stephen said he had received an e-mail about an expectant mom whom had seen our profile online and was due at the end of April. From the moment I heard about this e-mail something told me it was different . . . I stood outside of the class just shaking as the road so far to our second child had been quite bumpy. We were in that place of “don’t get your hopes up . . . but we really hope this is it” phase in our 15 month journey. After talking it over and praying over it we made the decision to show our profile.

Monday, March 22, 2010 . . . Our profile is shown . .. .

Wednesday, March 24, 2010 . . . we find out that we are one of two couples that the expectant mom would like to meet before making her decision. The meeting is set up for Monday, March 29th at a church in the Dallas area.

Friday, March 26, 2010 . . . I get a phone call from our adoption agency that after going to a routine doctor appointment the expectant mom had been checked into the hospital as a precaution for the baby. The Monday meeting was now moved to the hospital. I KNEW in my heart something was going to happen that night . . . I don’t know what it was . . . . but I did not sleep at all the whole night . . . . I prayed long and hard for the expectant mom and her baby . . . . I prayed that she would be at peace and that her decision would not be too difficult . . . I prayed that they would be safe and protected . . . I prayed for a safe delivery of the baby whenever that may be and comfort for her birth mother. I knew in my heart that the baby was coming that night.

Saturday, March 27, 2010 . . . We get up and started getting ready for the day. We had a soccer game at 9:30am for Jadon. However as I was getting ready . . . I just kept thinking “I know they are going to call . . . we are going to meet the expectant mom today”. Around 8:30am our home phone rang . . . sure enough I saw “Generations” on the caller ID. As soon as I saw that . . . . I looked at Stephen and said “I knew it!!!” Sure enough the expectant mom had given birth Friday night to a healthy baby girl and they wanted to move the meeting to today at 1pm.

Driving to the hospital to meet this beautiful woman was scary, nerve wracking, and intimidating. We knew she had seen our letter and pictures . . . but we still wondered . . . why did she like us? Why did she want to meet us? Would we make a good impression? Would we stumble over our words out of nervousness? We prayed for peace and clarity as we made our way into that hospital.

Our hearts were also nervous for the birth mother as we knew what she had been through the last 16 hours . . . how do you go through a quick birth . . . a month early . . . and then have to go through meeting potential adoptive families for this precious child that you just gave birth to? I can’t imagine the feelings that she had that day . . . confusion, exhaustion, love, fear . . . knowing you have to make this HUGE decision when clarity is so difficult!

The meeting went extremely well and the only thing we knew when we left was . . . we ABSOLUTELY loved this wonderful Christian family. I loved that they asked us direct questions such as “Are you guys in love . . . are you best friends . . . etc.” The questions were refreshing . . . I wanted their deepest questions answered. We hoped we would be chosen but we knew God had his plan and we just felt so blessed to be able to meet them. We also knew that at 3pm they would be meeting another family and we prayed for that family as well as they went through that meeting as we knew how difficult this was on everyone involved.

Of course this would be a night of little sleep as I just thought, prayed and sought what God was trying to do . . . would this be the family for us? Or would this be another learning experience? Whatever it would be . . . as hard as it was . . . I knew we were in his plan.

Sunday, March 28, 2010 . . . Stephen was on shift . . . I was a wreck . . . I sat through church and Sunday school and my phone never left my hand as we were hoping that we would hear of a decision. We knew someone was taking a little baby girl home tomorrow . . . . we just did not know who. At about 6pm I made the decision to go ahead and purchase a car seat . . . just in case . . . I could always take it back right? Plus I knew that if we were chosen . . . I wouldn’t want to have to think about that last minute. My mind was spinning and I needed to get out. Thankfully a wonderful woman from my Sunday School class offered to come with me to keep me company. It was nice to get out and just do something instead of just staring at the phone.

While at the baby store the agency called and told me that the birth mom was having a really hard time making a decision and we would find something out in the morning.

Wowsers . . . God had me on my knees . . . I knew of my anxiety . . . but I was having difficulty processing the struggles that the birth family was going through. I prayed so hard for this birth mother and her family . . . that she would have peace, clarity and confidence in whatever decision she came to . . . whether it be parenting or placing her precious child with us or the other family for adoption. I prayed for the other adoptive family as I knew they were feeling what I was feeling.

Monday, March 29, 2010 . . .

9:00am . . . we decide that we are not going to sit around the house and we decided to take Jadon out for breakfast at IHOP. At this point Jadon knew NOTHING of what was going on. We forwarded the home phone to my cell so we would get whatever call would come.

10:30am . . . during our breakfast the phone rings . . . I looked at Stephen and was really scared to answer it as all I could hear in my head was “They chose the other family”. I took a deep breath and answered . . . it of course was Laura from the agency. She said that the family had come to a decision and that they had chosen us to be the parents of this precious little girl! I immediately started bawling (right there in the middle of IHOP) and of course poor Jadon has no idea what is going on and he started to freak out and cry because he didn’t know what was wrong with me. I nodded to Stephen so that he knew it was us and he proceeded to tell Jadon that I was crying happy tears as he was now a big brother and would be bringing home a baby sister later that day! Jadon then screamed “YES” at the top of his lungs right there in the middle of IHOP (I keep remembering how crazy that must have looked to other IHOP patrons as I cried and Jadon cheered).

Laura had told me that we needed to be at the hospital at 3pm so we had a few hours to get things prepared. We finished up our breakfast, called family and then headed to Target. Of course we had to have some girly clothes to take the little princess home!

3:00pm . . . We pulled up to the hospital full of anticipation and excitement! Meeting Jori for the first time was simply amazing! Jadon ran right up to her little bassinet and the first thing he said while looking over her was “I am going to protect you”. I was so amazed and in love watching my little boy just love on his new little sister . . . immediately accepting her as a member of our family.

Watching Stephen hold his little girl the first time was absolutely one of the most powerful moments . . . . seeing this little 5lb baby in his arms just melted my heart.

The first time holding my little princess was simply amazing . . . it brought back the emotions I had the first time I held Jadon. All of the heartache . . . longing . . . immediately we knew this was the child God had planned for us. We were all so excited to meet our new little girl.

Baylor Irving was FANTASTIC!! The nurses there were great and we left the hospital at around 7pm. Needless to say . . . we realized on the way home that we had not eaten since IHOP earlier that morning. We were all just in a daze on the way home . . . Jori sat between me and Jadon . . . Jadon just kept looking at her and kept saying how beautiful she was. I totally agreed! When we got home Jadon HAD to help carry her in . . . to make sure she was safe! He is so protective of his little sister!

God truly walked with us along this journey. That is not to say there was not times I wondered what in the world his plan was and why it had to at times hurt so much. I knew he just had that perfect birth family and daughter for us. Jeremiah 29:11 played a big role in my life during the 15 month wait for our dear daughter . . .

For I know the plans I have for you, "declares the LORD," plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

God always knew his plan for us . . . but he needed to take us through the ups and downs of our journey to bring us closer to him. We know God has many more journeys for us in the future and we do our best to put all of our faith and trust in him. We pray our children will cling to this verse as they grow . . . have questions . . . and just become independent individuals. God’s plan may not always be the plan “we” have planned for ourselves but it is definitely the plan he knows is best for us.

We are also so incredibly blessed to have had so many people love on us, pray for us, and support us through this journey to our family. I don’t think I could count up all of the people who one way or the other made an impact on us or did something that brought us peace. Family, friends, and church family (many of whom we do not personally know) were there for us in thoughts, prayer, phone calls, chats, food, gifts, and love. Without that . . . this journey would have been unbearable. To all of you . . . Thank You!

May 29, 2010 . . . I can not think about all of the events of 2 months ago and not tear up. So much has happened . . . we have fallen completely and totally in love with our little girl. We have been so blessed to maintain an open relationship with her birth family and for that we are so grateful. We feel so incredibly blessed that 2 beautiful children were entrusted to us . . . and we will always cherish them!

Oh, my precious baby girl . . . you are 2 months old! Some things we have learned about you . . .

- you are now 8 lbs 4 oz. (still smaller than your brother was when he was born!)

- you are 21 1/2 inches long.

- you love to sleep on your belly (even though that is a big no no!!)

- you love to watch your brother be silly!

- you are starting to smile on your own when we play with you! You have the greatest smile on earth!

- you are sleeping pretty good though the night . . . you only get up around 4am to eat now!

- you finally fit into newborn clothes!!

- you really did not like your 2 month shots!

- you have eyes that melt your daddy and mommy's hearts!

- when you are done with your bottle . . . you will let us know by throwing out that bottom lip and pushing your lips together!

- you are beginning to really like your swing.

- you love to grab on to your mommy's necklace and not let go!

- you are just the most precious little girl on the planet!

Jadon and I took some time out to spend some time together by going to the nursery to pick out some plants to grow tomatoes and strawberries. I know myself well enough NOT to plant things in the ground because I do not have the time or patience to pull weeds. We decided to try some Topsy Turvy planters to see how they would do.

Jadon had a blast at the nursery and I am so glad we had this quality time together!

For so many years . . . mothers day was one of the hardest days of the year for me. Today . . . it is the greatest . . . knowing our family is complete. I feel so incredibly blessed to have had 2 wonderful selfless women choose to make me a mother. God has blessed us immeasurably and for that I am so thankful.

5 years ago on mothers day we took part in the baby dedication for Jadon . . . . and today we dedicated ourselves to bring Jori up to know our God.

Visit to Great Grannies!

We took Jori and Jadon to great grannies house over the weekend. It was so great spending a few days with her. My kiddos are so lucky to have such a wonderful wise woman in their lives!

I love these two photo's and will cherish them always . . . I love seeing great grannies hands hold my little Jori.

The blankets in the bottom photo are very special as well. Great Grannie made the pink blanket for Jori . . . the multi colored blanket was made by Great Grannie's, grannie. That would be Jori and Jadon's great, great, great grannie.

My little Jori . . . you have rocked our world this last month! You have completely captured your daddy's, brother's and my heart. You have grown to 6 lbs 14 oz and are now wearing newborn clothes. Your smile already lights up a room and we smile every time we see it!

Here are a few of the things we now know about you:

- You LOVE to be held! You just want to snuggle close . . . the closer the better . . . it is what makes you happy (it also makes momma happy!)

- When being swaddled . . . . you must always have your hands and arms free. You love to move them around and definitely do not like to have them restrained under a blanket.
- You will let us know when you are hungry! You my dear have a louder voice than your brother ever did :-)

- You love to look at yourself in the mirror . . . but why wouldn't you . . . you are just so pretty!

- You love to watch your brother . . . he is a silly boy . . . and he loves showing off for you!

- You bring the best out in all of us . . . Jadon has a very special protective side that we have not seen until now.

- We have no doubt that God has a wonderful plan for your life . . . and we are excited to see what that is!

3 weeks to the day we took Jori back to the same IHOP . . . sat in the same booth, and ordered the same food when we found out that we were to be her parents. What a great memory . . . that IHOP needs to never close as we plan on taking Jori there lots!

I am so glad that my mom was able to come visit Jori so soon after she was placed in our home! Jadon was in heaven and was able to make lots of banana bread with Grandma while she was here (of course while wearing his pirate hat). Grandma was busy sewing all sorts of things for Jori (diaper bag, burp clothes, etc.) but of course she had plenty of time to hold her newest little grand baby! Now Jadon, Jori, and I are looking forward to our trip to Michigan in June to see the whole rest of my family!

I decided to weigh her on our scale at home and she is up t o 6 lbs 4 oz! I guess she is really working hard at growing! Pretty good since she was not scheduled to be here for another week.

This week she is showing us her eyes more and more. She started playing with her little mirror and reaching out to touch things. She loves to look at herself in the mirror . . . no surprise as she is just so pretty and must know it!

We definitely go through our ups and downs on this journey . . . the last year has felt like an eternity at times.

I can't help but ponder the emotions that any family that is thinking about placing a child for adoption would be. I know our feelings, anticipations, and desires . . . but I can't imagine what the other family is going though!

I pray for every birth family that is going through that very difficult task of sorting through profiles, looking at scrapbooks, dealing with their own grief and anticipation yet trying to pick the perfect family for their precious child. I am so in awe of and so thankful for such families. Watching families come together through adoption gets me every time. I can't help but get emotional for anyone that gets that long awaited "match" for I so remember that day with Jadon.

Every night we wait until Jadon is asleep and we just stand by his bed and just look at him in awe. Many of these nights, I can't help but get tears of just pure happiness that this child is in our home. Even though he has been in our family for 5 1/2 years that emotion never fades. We are so excited about the future and adding another bedroom to visit each night before we go to sleep. We know God has a perfect plan and that perfect family for us . . . and we eagerly anticipate that day when we will meet them.

For now I will leave you with what I found one night when going in to just look at my boy while he slept. We had just been to the monster truck show and he just thought the ear protectors were the coolest thing. He just HAD to sleep with them. I just love these times . . . .

Can I just say that I LOVE that I have the ability to take last minute trips? Stephen talked me into taking Jadon to our church's family spring break retreat and make it a really special mommy/Jadon time since he could not go.

My oh my . . . I could not have guessed how much fun we could have and what a special time it was! Jadon tried many new things (canoeing, zip line, horse back ride, tennis, paddle boat). Here are some pics of our awesome weekend!

Looky . . . looky . . . who has the coolest little boy room ever?

Under the bed we have a little light and a book shelf with lots of books for his own little reading area. It is also the area where mommy, daddy and Jadon (yes somehow we all fit under there) cuddle, read, and say prayers at night before Jadon goes to bed. Love that little fort!

This is Jadon's little work station. He loves drawing, coloring, and building lego creations so far in this little spot! I love seeing his creative side come out now that he has this space!

Oh and I have to say . . . . I LOVE CRAIGSLIST! That is where I found the bed.

Mommy . . . when will it be our turn?

"Mommy . . . when will it be our turn?" The words of my precious son . . . who absolutely can not wait to be a big brother. It has been over a year since we started the process with agency #1. Now Jadon is really getting what "waiting" means. This is good for him . . . as difficult as it is . . . he is learning what God's timing means. He prays for his new brother or sister . . . he sets special toys aside for him/her . . . he talks about all the things he will be teaching him/her. He is such a loving little guy . . . I truly can't wait to see him in the big brother role!

Almost every time we go to a friends house that has a small baby he asks if we are going to take the baby home with us. We do our best to explain that these babies have a mommy and daddy already. One night we had friends over and the baby was a little fussy . . . he ran to his room and got his most prized possession . . . his green "B" (his blanket). He handed it to the baby and said "this should help you baby." Needless to say . . . Stephen and I were floored, mouths dropped, as we know just how special that "B" is to him.

We pray that this process does not take too much longer . . . it has been a long year. However . . . we also know God has that perfect child and birth family for us. Now we pray that Jadon understands the special work that God is doing right now.

Oh beautiful January day in Texas . . . mommy and Jadon were playing with a little wooden airplane outside . . . mommy wasn't careful and threw it into the tree . . . she then had the GREAT idea to use a broom to get it down (so we wouldn't have to bother daddy). Well . . . as you can see that was a BRILLIANT idea!!!!

Poor broom . . . . and poor little airplane!!

Jadon had the BEST idea (of course the neighbor twins were in on it as well) . . . "We need to call the fireman to help" . . . well LUCKY for us . . . we have one (a fireman that is) just inside the house!

So with a little help from a TALL ladder and a TALL daddy . . . the little wooden plane (and broom) were rescued! How lucky we are to have our own fireman to rescue the day!

So . . . Jadon and I went out for a walk and he decided to ride his scooter. About half way through the walk he decided that his feet were too tired to ride the scooter so he threw it over his shoulder and walked it 1/2 mile back home. I love that kiddo!

2010 . . . is going to be great . . . I just know it! Jadon will be starting kindergarten in 2010 . . . which is crazy! I don't think I am quite ready for that. We also pray that this is the year we meet Holland baby #2. We look forward to seeing how that process will work out and we pray for the birth family daily. I would love it if we could have an open relationship with our birth family but I also know that not all birth families are comfortable with that.

We know that our profile is being shown . . . I think about how hard it must be for a birth mother to look through paper profiles and be able to decide . . . "this is the family". It really is beyond my comprehension the struggles, feelings, love, and commitment to her child that she has in order to make that decision and choice. It is hard to believe that we have already been on this journey for about a year (since sending in the first application). Things went so quick and easily with Jadon . . . . I know God has a great plan for our family . . . whether or not that includes baby #2. I trust him and what he has planned for us.

Here is a picture from New Years Eve (not so pretty lol). Stephen was on shift (because emergency workers are needed even on New Years as well) so Jadon and I rung the New Year in together at 11pm with New York. Jadon picked out the hat's, horns and little poppers. Of course he wanted the pink hat and told me I had to wear the diamond sparkly one. We toasted the New Year with sprite. Jadon LOVED clinking the glasses together and did so several times. Of course our carpets were covered with confetti after shooting off all the little poppers. It was an awesome night and a great way to start the New Year!

My wonderful Grandma H. Used to always make this Dutch treat. It is basically made of a pie crust type dough with an almond filling. Hopefully my attempt would make her proud!

San Antonio and Sea World!

We were so lucky to get to go to San Antonio in early December! We just love all the Christmas lights on the riverwalk! This year it was FREEZING though! Usually it is around 65 - 70 degrees but this year it was more like 40!

Anyway, we decided to get Sea World season passes due to the fact they were the same price as a day ticket AND they are good for all of 2010! We are definitely looking forward to visiting once it get's warmer.

10 years and counting!

Stephen and I celebrated 10 wonderful years of marriage last Friday (December 11)! We decided to go to Pappasito's for dinner (since they catered our wedding and we really didn't get much that night). It of course was fabulous! We also were able to stay at the Hyatt in Richardson, TX as we had won a free night stay there when we attended a marriage retreat at our church earlier this year. It was so nice to get to spend that time alone with Stephen! Thanks Grammie and Big Daddy for keeping Jadon for us!! Here is a pic from our wedding . . . goodness we look so young!

We have definitely been through our ups and downs over the 10 years but I would not want anyone else beside me than this man! I am so blessed to have such a wonderful husband and I look forward to the next 10, 20, 30+ years with him!

Moving on . . .

We found out today that the birthmom in the situation I spoke about yesterday has decided to parent. I am happy for her as we felt like this is what she desired all along. I hope and pray for her she has the support she needs to get through this time.

So . . . today we took the final steps to be officially waiting with agency #2. They will not tell us when they are showing our profile . . . we will just find out when we have a potential "match". So now we wait and see! Thanks for all of your prayers!
